EFT Tapping Points

This EFT Tapping Points guide gives you a demonstration of where to tap with your fingertips when applying the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

To benefit from EFT, you need to know more than just where to tap. There is an art to gently approaching serious issues and thoroughly clearing all aspects of the issue. This is the benefit of working with an EFT Practitioner. They are someone outside your head that can keep you present and safe even when dealing with a traumatic past.

For a more detailed description of the location of each set of points see the table below.

The video and the description cover the EFT Shortcut points which are used most of the time. The original EFT Full Basic Recipe contained more points on the hand and fingers. You can see an explanation of the full EFT Basic Recipe on YouTube.

EFT Tapping Points Descriptions

  • Karate Chop Point

Middle of fleshy part on outside of hand between the top of the wrist and the base of the little finger.

  • Top of Head

On the Top of the Head, with fingers back-to-back right at the crown.

  • Eyebrows

At the beginning of the eyebrow, just above and to one side of the nose.

  • Side of Eyes

On the outside of your eye socket near the corner of the eye

  • Under the Eyes

On the bone under an eye at the bottom of your eye socket, about one inch below your pupil.

  • Under the Nose

On the small area between the bottom of your nose and the top of your upper lip.

  • Chin Point

Midway between the point of your chin and the bottom of your lower lip. Even though it is not directly on the point of the chin, we call it the chin point because it is descriptive enough for people to understand easily.

  • Collarbone Points

The junction where the sternum (breastbone), collarbone and the first rib meet. To locate it, first, place your forefinger on the U-shaped notch at the top of the breastbone (about where a man would knot his tie). From the bottom of the U, move your forefinger down toward the navel 1 inch and then go to the left (or right) 1 inch.

  • Under the Arms

On the side of the body. For men, it is the same height as their nipples. For women, it is in the middle of the bra band. It is about 4 inches below the armpit.

  • Inside of the Wrists

On the inside of each wrist. Tap together by crossing one wrist over the other with the insides facing. While not part of the EFT Basic Recipe they are included because they have been found to be valuable additions since the initial development of EFT.
