Here’s some great tips for making EFT part of your day without having to make extra time for it from EFT Down Under legend Steve Wells‘ recent newsletter.

I particularly like the “Tap when you come to a red traffic light”, because I hear reports from clients of seeing people do this all the time, and tapping while waiting for the computer to do stuff. One of the most powerful is to “Graft” tapping on to your existing problem – just tap while you are experience the issue and it will help.

–
10 Easy Ways to Get Tapping Into Your Day

By Steve Wells

One of the greatest benefits of SET is the discovery that the sheer amount of tapping you get into your day can make a massive difference to your results. In general, the more you tap the more your stress level decreases and your positive life energy starts to flow. We call this “energy toning”.

Regular, daily tapping seems to tune and tone your energy system in beneficial ways, and make it more difficult for your negative problems to upset you emotionally. Here are 10 easy ways you can get the tapping happening so you can experience more of those benefits in your life:

1. Tap right Now

Are you tapping as you read this? You could be. Use the simple SET tapping approach of tapping on the finger tip points using the thumb of the same hand, or simply start tapping on any of the SET points as you read this article. Then when you finish reading, why not write the statement “Tap Right Now” on a post- it note and post it somewhere you’ll see it regularly. Then every time you see it, just start tapping!

2. Tap in the loo

When you go to the toilet use this as an opportunity to tap (Aussies call it the “loo”, our USA friends call it the “bathroom”). When in public and you have a need to tap then you can retreat to the loo to do some tapping if you need to. And why not also use the opportunity to tap when you need to go there during your normal day? Here’s a secret I’ve learnt from my clients and verified for myself: If you have to do “number 2” while in the loo, try repeated tapping on the side of the eye, many clients have reported that this spot seems especially helpful for aiding bowel movement! (Now isn’t this newsletter a constant source of useful information???)

Rod: I would also suggest massaging the outside of the thighs as these are acupressure points for the large intestine meridian and will often help with bowel movement.

3. Tap when you come to a red traffic light.

Being held up in traffic or coming to a stop at a red traffic light can be your cue to start tapping. My wife Louise does this and often clocks up as much as 20 minutes of tapping in one trip! Who knows, if everyone did this we might reduce the amount of road rage out there!

4. Tap before going to sleep at night

This is a great time to add tapping to one of your daily routines and will probably help you to get to sleep more easily and sleep more soundly – especially if you are one of those people who tends to have their mind filled with stresses of the day or worries of the morrow at this time.

5. Tap while watching television

Watching television can be a great time to get some tapping into your day. Especially when watching the news or any programs which may include confronting or traumatic images, tapping is essential. But you can also tap whilst watching your regular programs, and clock up as much as an hour or more of tapping.

6. Tap when you are waiting

There are so many times in our day when we have to wait. Waiting for your computer to boot up, waiting for your emails to download or waiting for a website to load are common examples. Then there’s those times when you have to pick someone up, or wait for your partner or kids to get ready. Or how about when you have to call the bank or credit card company and work your way through an endless menu then discover that your wait time is 39 minutes while listening to a recorded message telling you how important you are to them…, These are all great times to tap, especially since waiting at these times can also be stressful events.

7. Tap when you are in a meeting

Especially if you are around a table you can do the fingertip tapping under the table. Or even more subtly, you can simply hold or lightly rub the points. This is especially useful since meetings are often places where emotions run high, especially business meetings where the emotions of frustration or boredom arise frequently. Tapping can be your antidote and save you from carrying those stresses back into your work, or, even worse, taking them home with you.

8. Tap when you are on the phone

Talking on the phone is another activity that most of us do quite regularly. It isn’t necessary that those phone calls be emotionally upsetting for us to use tapping (although if they are, tapping will be especially useful), simply use the act of picking up the phone as a cue to start some beneficial energy tapping.

9. “Graft” the tapping onto an ongoing problem

All of us have situations and people and events that regularly cause us stress. Obviously it makes sense to tap on the emotions that are caused in us by these, however it can also be effective to simply tap whenever we are entering the problem situation or about to encounter the person who stresses us. Again, this can be done discreetly by using the fingertip tapping. Just take the tapping with you into the problem situation and keep it up. The more you do this, the less those situations, people, and events will be able to provoke you.

10. Offer the tapping to a partner or loved one

It can be a wonderful experience to tap with permission on a loved one or special friend. This can be especially helpful when that loved one is emotionally upset but why wait for a problem to get the benefits of tapping into your relationships? Offer to tap on them at a more neutral time. As long as they are ready to accept it, receiving the tapping from another can be a beautifully centering and re-connecting experience. Then, if you are both ready and willing, they can reciprocate.
–

If you have been caught up in the rush of the holiday season you might find the holidays more stressful than relaxing and rejuvenating. Try slowing down to a bare foot pace by walking bare foot in nature. Walking bare foot forces us to slow down and bring our attention into the moment.

I was recently walking in my nearby park when I decided to take off my shoes and walk on the grass bare foot. At first, I tried to walk at my usual pace striding forward to get around the park in the time I had allocated and get back to work. But what I found was that I had to slow down, place each foot gently, and bring all of my awareness into the present moment. After just 5 minutes of this bare foot pace, I found that not only had my body slowed but also my thoughts and breathing.

I thought the idea of slowing down to a bare foot pace was especially important given how easily we get caught up in the rush and busyness of the holiday season. There is presents to buy, food to prepare, guests to take care of, but where in all that is there time to slow down, savour the moment, and take the break we’ve been looking forward to all year.

I notice that when I walk wearing business shoes that I stride forward with a purpose yet little awareness of what my feet are doing. One of the earliest self-help books I ever read, The Magic of Thinking Big, suggested walking 10% faster than everyone else to both give yourself the feeling of purposefully moving forward and the let others know you had a purpose as well. I adopted that habit when I read the book yet the same book did not suggest how to change gears and slow back down when it was time to take a break. And this is just when I’m wearing business shoes, when I’m wearing work or hiking boots, I clomp along even more indiscriminately with a kind of terminator unstoppableness.

Do you remember the last time you walked bare foot in nature? It’s very hard to rush when you have to take care where you place each foot and be aware of where you’re stepping and what you’re stepping on. Try walking bare foot in nature at least once during the holiday season and see how quickly it will slow you down from the striving rush and into a gentle appreciative moment.

Here’s a tapping video that might help you in slowing down to a barefoot pace this holiday season.

Sometimes we continue to do things in our lives because we think we should, yet these activities have long since lost any meaning for us. Here’s some examples of how this can show up:

going to a religious establishment regularly with no interest, because you think you should

working in a career you’re unhappy with, because you think you should

donating money to a charity, because you think you should

agreeing with what someone says even when you don’t, because you think you should

studying for a degree that doesn’t interest you, because you think you should

Some of these activities are important AND I’m asking you to check in on your motivation for doing these things. Are you doing them because they give you a deep sense of fulfillment and contribute to your happiness, or are you doing them because you think you should? One feels like being drawn forward, one feels like being pushed; and who likes to be pushed around?

Think about the activities that fill your life and identify something that feels like a “should”. You’re not really enjoying it and if you felt you had a choice, you would rather be doing something else. Identify one thing that your doing and apply the following EFT sequence using this EFT tapping points

Depending on your investment in the activity you may not be able to change your path immediately. If it’s a change of career, you still need to pay the bills while you change careers. But if you can make little improvements each day that move you towards what you want and away from what you don’t want, letting go of the shoulds and embracing the joy along the way, your life will definitely change for the better.

Sometimes it’s hard to get into the Christmas Spirit when a loved one is not there to share it with you.

Maybe they have passed on since last Christmas and this is your first Christmas without them. Maybe they have other plans, or maybe they just can’t make it this year.

Whatever the reason for their absence, here’s how EFT can lighten your spirit. Using this EFT tapping points guide, start and continue tapping on the indicated points while saying:

Karate Chop
Point:

Even though this Christmas is not the same because they aren’t here, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though I miss them dearly, I choose to love and accept myself.
Even thought I wish they were here, I choose to feel their love anyway.

Head:

Christmas is different this year

Eyebrows:

Not everyone could make it

Side of Eyes:

I miss them so much

Under Eyes:

It’s just not the same without them

Under Nose:

I’m sad and I accept how I feel

Chin Point:

This time of year is the worst

Collarbones:

It’s hard without them near

Under Arms:

I feel like something is missing

Wrist Points:

I deeply and completely accept how I feel.

Continue on with another round:

Head:

I miss them

Eyebrows:

I can still feel their love

Side of Eyes:

I choose to celebrate life

Under Eyes:

I choose to remember the good times

Under Nose:

I can feel them in my heart

Chin Point:

They would want me to enjoy myself

Collarbones:

It’s the holidays after all

Under Arms:

I accept my sadness as well as my joy

Wrist Points:

I’m grateful for those I am able to share the holidays with

If this opens up even deeper feelings then please continue tapping using your own words until you clear all the issues this raises.

Season’s Greetings to you and your loved ones. May this holiday season bring joy, love, peace, and abundance to each and every one of us.

Are you always running late? Do you friends tell you that something starts at 6pm (when it actually starts at 7pm) because they know you never make it on time? Do you have the clock set 15 minutes ahead of time to try and trick yourself about what time it is?

Here’s a way you can use EFT to improve your relationship with time. Using this EFT tapping points guide, start and continue tapping on the Karate Chop Point while saying:

Even though I was born late and have been trying to catch up ever since, I choose to arrive right here, right now.

Head:

Always running late

Eyebrows:

Not my fault

Side of Eyes:

Things always happen

Under Eyes:

I don’t want to be late

Under Nose:

I’ve tried hard to change this and nothing works

Chin Point:

The clock works against me

Collarbones:

Can’t catch up

Under Arms:

Never enough time

Wrist Points:

Have to do everything, all the time, for everyone; no time for me.

Continue on for another round:

Head:

My time is valuable

Eyebrows:

I choose carefully what I commit to

Side of Eyes:

I make time for the things that are important to me

Under Eyes:

I allow time for unexpected things

Under Nose:

I keep my commitments to myself and others

Chin Point:

I am reliable

Collarbones:

I’m in the right place at right time right now

Under Arms:

I’m making it a priority to be on time

Wrist Points:

I choose to notice the ways in which my relationship with time has improved and celebrate my successes.

Be gentle and persistent with yourself as you continue to improve your relationship with time. Using EFT for running late will get you on time soon.

The Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT is great for healing emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress. This article explores and advanced strategy of using EFT with Identity Statements.

“The need to remain consistent with our identity is the strongest force in the human psyche.”
– Anthony Robbins

Your identity defines and constrains. Pay attention to you language both internal and external for statements that begin with “I am …”. Statements that begin with “I am …” are identity statements, for example:

I am a firefighter
I am a mother
I am a loner
I am an engineer
I am middle-aged
I am over the hill
I am a man
I am a victim of …

Each of these statements, some empowering, some disempowering, defines and constrains our identity. Pay attention to your conversations and listen for how you define yourself.

If you find an identity statement that is disempowering then you can apply EFT to it by making the identity statement part of the set up:

“Even though I’m an engineer who can’t trust his intuition, I choose to trust my intuition ”

“Even though I’m a single mother and don’t have time for relationships, I choose to love and accept myself”

“Even though I’m a victim of abuse, I can use this as an excuse to fail or motivation to succeed”

You may need to explore all the aspects of the identify statement using some form of brain dump to get to specific issues. Then dilligently apply EFT on each of the individual aspects.
