The Metabolic Typing Diet The Metabolic Typing Diet: Customize Your Diet to Your Own Unique Body Chemistry
by William Wolcott and Trish Fahey

EFT is effective for treating emotional issues and sometimes an adjustment to your physical biochemistry is needed as well. If you think this is just another diet book then think again. This book helps you to figure exactly what the right types of foods are for your individual needs. This book helped me to understand why, on a vegetarian diet, I was sick, had wild mood swings and no energy for several years. When you eat right for your metabolic type (and treat unresolved emotional issues with EFT) mood swings, depression, anxiety and even chronic disease can all disappear. You will have energy all day and keep weight off effortlessly.

Getting Things Done Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity
by David Allen

Much stress in our lives is caused by our ability, or lack there of, to manage our priorities and productivity. This book is by far the most practical book I have come across for time management. It takes all the theory of other time management systems, explains why that doesn't work in practice and then shows you methods that support the way your brain naturally works. The book itself is incredibly time friendly in that it explains the whole system by the third chapter allowing you to implement it straight away. You can then read the remainder of the book as you find yourself with more time available.
NB This book has also been published under the title "How to Get Things Done".

The Solutions Focus: Making Coaching and Change SIMPLE
by Paul Z Jackson and Mark McKergow

This book gave me a profound shift in thinking and solving problems. My engineering degree trained me to think in terms of understanding the problem to find the solution. While this makes sense when you need to know why a bridge fell down so that next time it won't, it is not always the best approach for every area of our lives. Instead this book explores the concept of finding out what works and doing more of it to move step-by-step towards you ideal solution rather than trying to solve it all at once.

The Five Love Languages The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate
by Gary Chapman

Ever done everything you can to show someone you love them and then they respond by saying something like "You never tell me you love me!" This book provides a solution to this perplexing problem. Each of us has a unique way of experiencing love from others. We most often show love to others in the way we wish to receive it and yet other people have different ways in which they wish to receive love. With this simple tool, you can ignite the love in your relationship and make it easy for yourself to convey your love in a way your loved ones understand.

Now, Discover Your Strengths Now, Discover Your Strengths
Marcus Buckingham, Donald O. Clifton

The key idea I took from this book: it's OK not to be perfect at everything! In the self-help realm, I think there is an unrealistic expectation that if you read all the right books and attend all the right seminars you can become perfect at whatever you set your sights on. Yet, some of us struggle and beat ourselves up when we can't do what we are not naturally good at. After reading this book, I now know what I'm good at and what I strengths I need to find in others to compliment me. And together we can create our successes.

Slow Burn Slow Burn: Burn Fat Faster By Exercising Slower
by Stu Mittleman with Katherine Callan

What most fitness programs don't tell you is that you are teaching your body to burn sugar rather than fat. There are two different energy systems in the body: one that burns fat and one that burns sugar. The harder you train the more you train your body to burn sugar and the more you crave that as your fuel. For long term energy through your whole day, you need to train your body to burn fat. To do this you will have to slow down your training.
Based on the information in this book, and coaching from Stu, I completed a marathon, after only 3 months training, in a relaxed fashion and went out dancing the same night after I finished. This book will teach you to think very differently about the way you train.
