Australian's indigenous people have stories that their medicine men, their Witch Doctor, could kill you just by pointing a bone and delivering a curse. Other cultures have the myths of someone casting an evil eye.
Regardless of whether real magic was involved, if the person at which the bone was pointed believed strongly enough that they would die then they did so.
A belief is something we have a feeling of certainty about. A well-meaning Doctor will give you their best diagnosis (their best opinion) and because of our beliefs in them we take this as an unquestionable truth.
There are many studies that show that when a Doctor's pronounces that a patient has a certain amount of time to live, most people will die within that timeframe - very similar to a witch doctor point the bone at some one. Only a very few people have a strong enough internal belief to prove the Doctor wrong.
This tapping sequence aims to reduce the certainty with which we take on a Doctor's diagnosis. It does not create denial! If anything, it will help you move past denial more quickly to be clear about your own responsibilities in the healing process.
Using this tapping points guide, start and continue tapping on the Karate Chop Point while saying:
"Even though I have just received this news and all my feelings are in turmoil, I completely and deeply accept the way I feel."
"Even though I trust the Doctor, I choose to remember that he is only giving me his opinion and I still believe in myself."
"Even though I'm terrified that what the Doctor said is true, I choose to take responsibility for my health and my life."
"Even though the treatments for this disease are brutal and painful, I choose to stay open to all forms of healing, taking responsibility for educating myself as to the best course of action."
"Even though the Doctor is certain about his diagnosis, I choose to have faith in myself and my body's ability to heal."
"Even if I'm not sure how much time I have left, none of us really do, I choose to express gratitude for each and every moment I get to experience until then."
Then continue tapping on the remaining points (both sides, both hands) as follows:
Head: All this emotional turmoil
Eyebrows: I'm scared
Side of eyes: What if the Doctor is right?
Under eyes: What if the Doctor is wrong?
Under nose: How can he be so sure?
Chin point: How can I be sure?
Collarbones: What do I have to live for? What could I have to live for?
Under arms: My will to live is strong
Wrist Points: I choose health and wellness for every part of my being
And continue on for another round:
Head: All the emotions I'm feeling; will I be a burden to others?
Eyebrows: How can I take the best care of myself?
Side of eyes: How can I be even more grateful for my body, mind and spirit?
Under eyes: What do I want to believe about my healing ability?
Collarbones: I invite healing are all levels of my being.
Under arms: I've been given a wake up call, is there anything I need to set right?
Wrists: How else can I assist my return to health?
Last round:
Head: I'm responsible for my health.
Eyebrows: I'm doing the best I can.
Side of eyes: I choose to celebrate each moment I have.
Under eyes: I forgive myself for anything I did to contribute to this problem.
Under nose: I'm open to forgiving anyone else who had anything to do with this problem.
Chin Point: I'm willing to accept support from loved ones, while accepting responsibility for myself.
Collarbones: I have faith in myself and my ability to heal.
Under arms: I ask for guidance in releasing any emotions that are interfering with my bodies natural healing ability.
Wrists: I deeply and completely accepts myself, who I am, how I got here. I choose to love and accept myself. I choose to have compassion for myself.
You may want to continue on with the specific feelings that come up for you. Tapping with loved ones will also strengthen you emotional well being and acceptance.
