Tap4Health EFT Practice Newsletter
29 February, 2007

Hello Rod,

Welcome to this edition of the Tap4Health EFT Practice Newsletter.

In this edition, I'll talk about using EFT to handle limiting beliefs. A belief is something we have a feeling of certainty about yet some beliefs can limit what we can do, be or have. EFT is a great tool for breaking through to more empowering beliefs.

Also, we'll look at why, even though EFT is so simple, you may need the help of an experienced EFT Practitioner.

Finally, like you I dislike receiving emails that aren't relevant to me. Even though you like hearing from Tap4Health, it can be a little annoying to receive invites to Group EFT sessions in Melbourne when you live in Finland.

The current email system that Tap4Health uses makes it difficult to filter emails depending on where you live. Over the next few weeks, we are transitioning to a new email system that will mean you only receive emails that are relevant to you.

Keep a look out for an email requesting you to reconfirm your email address to continue receiving Tap4Health News and other updates. This is also your opportunity to opt out of receiving future emails - we'll miss you if you go, so be sure to following the instructions in the email.

  • EFT in Australia's New Idea Magazine

A recent edition of the Australian magazine, New Idea, had a small column on EFT under the title "How to be Happier" and quoted Australian EFT Master Steve Wells giving a very brief description of the technique.

It wasn't a very large piece but it's good to know main stream media is finally starting to catch on the world-wide healing phenomenon that is EFT.

Have you seen a reference to EFT in a magazine or on TV or radio? If so let me know by contacting Tap4Health.

    Why visit an EFT Practitioner?

EFT is easy to learn, can be self-applied and often very effective straight away so why would you need to visit and EFT Practitioner? A recent article, by EFT Master Emma Roberts, addressed this question.

Emma suggests, "The role of the practitioner is to be there when the home tapping comes up against a block, to be the detective, use language skills to creatively assist the client to unearth their core issues and beliefs – to question them in ways they wouldn’t think of doing for themselves. I believe that the creative language and questioning skills of the practitioner are invaluable in allowing the process to flow smoothly. "

The article also points out that the EFT Practitioner will often coach you through those "don't go there" issues which are too uncomfortable for you to address by yourself.

I like the way Emma sums up a Practitioner as not someone who ‘fixes’ the client, but as someone who is an equal part of a healing team. The client and the Practitioner working together resembles a dance, flowing rhythmically and smoothly.

Break through Limiting Beliefs with EFT

A belief is something which we have a feeling of certainty about. These beliefs come from our social environment, the media, loved ones, and authority figures.

A limiting belief can usually be identified when you are stuck and not getting the results you want in some way. A limiting belief can be identified by completing the sentence:

"I can't do this because..." or
    "I can't have this because..."

What follows 'because' is a limiting belief. Henry Ford once said: "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, your right!"

Examples of limiting beliefs include: I'm too young, I'm too old, I'm not smart enough, I'm not experienced enough, I don't have the education, Woman can't do that, Men can't do that, I can't get up early in the mornings, I'm too fat, I'm Asian, Greek or Australian. etc.

How can you apply EFT to these limiting beliefs? Tailor the setup statement to the limiting belief that you have identified. In this example, we'll use the belief "I'm too old" to do something that you want to do.

Using this tapping point guide, start and continue tapping on the karate chop point and say:
"Even though I'm too old to ..., I deeply and completely accept myself."
"Even though I'm too old and no one else I know can ... , I deeply and completely accept myself."
"Even though society tells me I'm too old to do ..., I deeply and completely accept myself."

Then continue on with the remaining points:
Head: "I'm too old to do this."
Eyebrows: "Society says I'm too old to do this."
Side of Eyes: "My friends say I'm too old to do this."
Under eyes: "I think I'm too old physically to do this, even though I'm young of heart."
Under Nose: "I'm too old so there's no way I can start this at this time in my life."
Collarbones: "It might give me a new lease on life if I do this, then what?"
Under arms:"I didn't think I was going to live this long, and I might live for a lot longer still, so am I really too old?"
Wrists: "I deeply and completely accept myself and my physical age, who I am, and how I feel right now."

What ever your limiting beliefs, you will always be able to find someone in exactly the same situation as you who does not have this belief and is achieving what you believe you can't. Free yourself from your belief and enjoy your new freedom
