The Emotional Freedom Technique® or EFT is an approach to healing that has gained attention from medical professionals and laypersons all over the world and often gets results when nothing else has worked. EFT is the most widely used method in the emerging field of Energy Psychology. EFT was developed by Gary Craig of www.emofree.com. Watch this short video by Gary explaining more about EFT:
- trauma and abuse
- stress, panic and anxiety attacks
- fears and phobias
- addiction and substance abuse
- children’s issues, and
- hundreds of physical symptoms including headaches, back pain and breathing difficulties.
EFT is also highly effective when applied to all types of peak performance e.g. sports, speaking, sales, acting, etc.
The success of EFT lies in the balancing of the body’s subtle energies that flow through the body, in much the same way as blood flows through veins. This balancing is done with an elegant sort of ‘emotional acupressure’. Instead of using needles, specific points on the body are tapped with the fingertips.
When EFT is properly applied, over 80% of clients achieve either noticeable improvement or complete cessation of the problem.
Important: While the same mechanical recipe is used for all ailments, the APPROACHES to the various problems can differ widely. This is where personal sessions with an experienced EFT Practitioner come in – there is an “art of delivery” which is necessary for complicated cases and this involves finding core issues and aspects as well as appropriate reframing and other artistic uses of this flexible tool. EFT Practitioners develop their own unique approaches and subtle variations on the foundational technique as taught by the Founder, Gary Craig, and will make these variations clear when working with you.
Energy Psychology is a set of therapies that work directly on the body to produce psychological change. They bypass the process of talking extensively about past traumas, which often simply reinforces the negative experience. Instead, they make use of visualization or verbal statements to reframe problems, accompanied by very specific routines employing breathing, tapping, or massage. This combination of recall of past traumas, coupled with physical stimulation, has been found by thousands of ordinary people, as well as physicians, therapists, coaches, and psychiatrists, to produce startling and permanent relief of the emotional charge associated with traumatic events.
Extensive research has demonstrated a strong correlation between unprocessed emotional trauma and disease. People with unprocessed emotional wounds are thirty times more likely to attempt suicide, as well as having higher rates of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and depression. Energy Psychology assists healing by releasing the charge around emotional distress.
There are several established forms of Energy Psychology. These include Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) (the most widely-used Energy Psychology method), and the Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT). Each of these routines takes just a few minutes to perform. Psychologists and doctors accustomed to long healing time for their clients are often startled at how quickly long-standing traumas can be resolved by Energy Psychology techniques.
