How can EFT help with peak performance (sports, music, academics, art, writing, acting, speaking, sales, business and more)?

You may have heard the story about running a 4 minute mile. At one stage in our history, it was thought that it was not humanly possible to run a mile in less then 4 minutes. Then an Australian, Roger Bannister, broke this 4 minute barrier. Once other athletes new that is was possible, they too broke the record. Now high-school students can often do it.

The only things limiting us are our beliefs and conditioning about what we are truly capable of.

Top athletes in any sport have very little difference between their skills. What separates the champions is their “mental game”; what goes on in their head. In sports, this is called Sports Psychology yet the same principles apply to all performers.

Peak Performers, like everyone else, have negative self-talk and emotions that serve to limit their performance. When a footballer lines up to kick a goal, lots of self-talk is going through his head. Things like “If I don’t kick this goal we’ll lose” or “I always have trouble kicking a goal from this side of the field” or “We’ve lost the last 6 games, we’re never going to make it to the finals”. They pick up these thoughts, notions and attitudes on their journey through life that, once exposed, qualify as first-class comedies. This is the mental game that EFT can help to change.

There are many potential points for applying EFT to enhance performance. These include:

  • Releasing tension/anxiety associated with performance – Having performers visualise the situation beforehand and apply EFT to any anxiety that comes up. EFT can be especially useful to sort through any particularly difficult situations or scenarios.
  • Releasing the negative emotions and effects of past failures. These can be systematically identified and addressed with EFT. It is important also to seek out any negative beliefs that may have developed out of these failures and address these also.
  • Addressing the performer’s self-image/identity, and eliminating any negative self-beliefs which could hinder peak performance.
  • Identifying and strengthening positive self-beliefs and beliefs about performance by having the performer say these and applying EFT to any resistance which comes up.
