<p>Using an experiments on mice that are identical genetically, scientist were able to completely change the health of the mice by changing diet. This is exciting stuff.</p>
<p>And what are the tools scientist say can alter the way our genese are expressed?</p>

<p>Tools from the emerging field of energy psychology, such as EFT, can change what happens to our genes and whether or not we experience a particular disease.</p>
<p>So please ignore that media next time it informs you that they have identified a gene for this or that disease. Yes the gene may lead to that diesase but YOU HAVE CONTROL over whether it happens or not.</p>
<p>A ground breaking <a href="http://www.opednews.com/articles/NEW-EPIGENETIC-SCIENCE-AWA-by-Meryl-Ann-Butler-080530-226.html" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Epigenetic Science award</a> was recently presented in Los Angeles. You owe it to yourself and your health to be informed about epigenetics. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In a recent newsletter article, I wrote about using EFT to break the <a href="/anger-management-with-eft/" title="Anger Management with EFT" class="liinternal">patterns of anger</a> that can really do damage to us and those we love.</p>
<p>I get most client enquiries from men for anger management yet one of the best reference books I have for patterns of anger is called <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/159240314X?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=rodsherwin-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=159240314X" title="Healing Rage by Ruth King" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Healing Rage:Women Making Inner Peace Possible</a> by Ruth King. The book helps you identify your primary anger disguises and gives you a number of practices for healing this rage. EFT, when combined with these practices, can yield to fantastic results.</p>
<p>Anger disguises include behaviours such as:</p>
<ul>
<li>Dominance</li>
<li>Defiance</li>
<li>Distraction</li>
<li>Devotion</li>
<li>Depression</li>
<li>Dependence</li>
</ul>
<p><a href="http://ruthking.net/" title="Ruth King: Bridges, Branches &amp; Braids" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Ruth King</a>&#8216;s book is from many years of experience in working with women and anger. When I talked to her about how I related to many of the patterns as a man, Ruth said that she could not claim experience with men as she had not worked with them over the years; yet we are all human and feel the same emotions.</p>
<p>Rage is a strong word for anger. It is at the most intense end of the spectrum of this emotion. There is a long path from peeved, annoyed, aggravated, &#8230;, angry,&#8230;, enraged. Most of us don&#8217;t use the words that can help us identify where we are on this spectrum.</p>
<p>Next time you are feeling angry see if you can identify where you are on a scale from 1 &#8211; 10 where 1 is peeved or miffed, and 10 is full blown insane rage. Making this distinction helps identify what actions you can take to <a href="/anger-management-with-eft/" title="Healing Rage with EFT" class="liinternal">break the pattern of anger</a>.<strong>Related Posts:</strong>

		<description><![CDATA[Do we really know the effects that common household chemicals have on our emotional well-being? I describe my recent experience with shaving creme and it's affect on my system of depression and obsessive thinking.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the last month, I&#8217;ve had some of the worst depression and obsessive thinking that I have ever experienced and believe it may be linked to the shaving creme I&#8217;ve been using. With all me healing skills, I have only been able to reduce the intensity of things a little yet felt very stuck like nothing could or would ever change.</p>
<p>This morning, as I went to shave, I got a nudge to muscle test (kinesiology) about the shaving creme I was using.</p>
<p>I normally only shaved with shaving oil but I bought some cheap home brand razors that just kept getting clogged so started using the shaving creme because then I could use the whole bag of razors. My shaving creme is one that comes in an aerosol and foams when squirted into the hand. So I&#8217;ve been using it for the better part of a month now; the month in which I have had the worst thoughts.</p>
<p>I muscle tested this morning that shaving creme was causing my depression and obsessive thinking and it tested true! I also tested that it would take about a week for the effects of the creme to leave my system so still have to battle through another week. I used soap on top of the oil this morning instead and was still able to use the razors.</p>
<p>So, you might want to experiment with not using the shaving creme for a couple of weeks and see what happens to you thoughts and feelings.<strong>Related Posts:</strong>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I came up with a question recently about my finances that had me stumped for two days.</p>
<p>Financial abundance has been an area of my life that hasn&#8217;t improved much even with many years of self development. Sure I&#8217;ve change careers and my lifestyle is wonderful but in terms of actual balance sheet&#8230; not much change. Of course, I have done lots of processes around clearing limiting beliefs, <a href="http://rodsherwin.gaia.com/blog/2008/2/releasing_vows_of_poverty_to_make_more_money" class="liexternal">past life vows</a>, languages, incantations, affirmations, you name it.</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s the thing; If you continue to ask questions like &#8220;What are my limiting beliefs around money? What is holding me back? What else do I need to clear?&#8221; you can only get more answers like that. These are all problem focused questions.</p>
<p>So I asked myself a solution-focused question: &#8220;<strong>How would I know, even a little bit, that my financial situation was improving? How would I notice that things were getting better, even just a little bit?</strong>&#8221;</p>
<p>Sure we are told to have Big Hairy Audacious Goals and aim for the moon etc and that is where we might end up. But how would you know you are actually moving in the right direction unless you tell yourself what to look for; what to notice?</p>
<p>Of course, these questions don&#8217;t only apply to financial goals but to any area of your life.</p>
<p>It took me two days before my brain finally gave over some answers to those questions. So what about you? How do you go with coming up with answers for noticing even a little bit of improvement in the direction of your goals.<strong>Related Posts:</strong>

		<description><![CDATA[When you take a moment to appreciate all the people who contributed to you enjoying a meal it can really connect you to the wider world. I may also alter your body's ability to absorb the nutrients and reduce your need for supplements.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was eating a meal sometime back and stopped for a moment to appreciate all the people had were involved in getting that meal to my plate. The first meal I did this was sardines on toast with cherry tomatoes on top.</p>
<p>I sent a thought of appreciation to the fishermen who caught the sardines. Then a thought to the fish market that processed the catch. Then to the factory that canned the fish. Then to the truck drivers who tranported the fish to my grocery store. The shelf fillers who put the cans on the shelf. The check out attendant who served me.</p>
<p>I also gave myself some appreciation for preparing the meal to enjoy and further appreciation went out to all those people who were clients of my practice who had given me money (a form of appreciation) which allowed me to buy the sardines. I also thanked the sardines for contributing to my health and well being.</p>
<p>Then I thought about the bread and the tomatoes. Well a farmer had to grow them so I sent some appreciation to him. And again through the supply chain to get them to my table.</p>
<p>Doing this appreciation at each meal, I have noticed two things. Firstly, I appreciate what I eat a lot more and feel connected to a much wider world around me. Secondly, I usually muscle test what supplements I need to take each day and I noticed a distinct drop in the amount of supplements that my body wanted now that I was appreciating my food.</p>
<p>In many religions there is some form of prayer given before eating. You may know it as &#8220;Saying Grace&#8221;. While you may be thanking God for putting the food on your table, be sure that send some appreciation to all the people he worked through to get it there.<strong>Related Posts:</strong>

However, It is getting more and more exposure in main stream media. Online fashion guru Gala Darling writes frequently on her blog <a href="http://galadarling.com" title="Gala Darling iCiNG" target="_blank" class="liexternal">iCiNG</a> about how she used EFT to overcome many issues such as asthma and eating disorders.</p>
<p>Gala recently wrote up <a href="http://galadarling.com/article/eft-tips-tricks" title="Gala Darling EFT Tips &amp; Tricks" target="_blank" class="liexternal">EFT Tips &amp; Tips</a> in which she answered questions from her readers on the use of EFT.  Gala&#8217;s enthusiasm for EFT is clear from her very first paragraph:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>These days we all know of someone who is suffering from cancer and also the current mainstream treatment of cancer. The suffering, the fear, the trauma, the shame are all part of the package that comes with a Doctor&#8217;s diagnosis of cancer.</p>
<p>Please remember that a Doctor is only giving you their opinion. It is not a fact. A Doctor&#8217;s opinion though is often interpreted with such power that if a Doctor says a patient only has 3 months to live, then they die exactly 3 months to the day of the diagnosis. We believe them so completely.</p>
<p>This recent article of <a href="http://www.emofree.com/a/?937/Articles2/cancer-remission-lauren.htm" title="Successful cancer remission. Stumping Doctors is easy." target="_blank" class="liexternal">successful cancer remission</a> shows yet again that Doctor&#8217;s can be wrong. I know the Doctor&#8217;s have to tell you their diagnosis because they are bound by a duty of care but how many times do they have to be wrong before they stop stating their diagnosis as a fact? And how long before we stop believing their diagnosis as an absolute truth? I have previous written on how <a href="/using-eft-with-a-doctors-diagnosis/" title="EFT for Doctor's Diagnosis" class="liinternal">using EFT with a Doctor&#8217;s diagnosis</a> can allow you to break it&#8217;s voodoo impact.</p>
<p>I truly admire the woman in the above article for her determination to break through the fears and challenges of both the cancer and it&#8217;s treatment. <strong>This <a href="http://www.emofree.com/a/?937/Articles2/cancer-remission-lauren.htm" title="Successful cancer remission" target="_blank" class="liexternal">story</a> should be in the headlines on every newspaper and TV channel.</strong><strong>Related Posts:</strong>

Most of us would be aware of these vows if we had made them in this life, but what about past lives?</p>
<p>Whether you believe in past lives or interrupt them as metaphors from your unconscious mind, the results will be the same. If you have even the slightest inkling that you may have been a priest, monk, or other religious role then maybe there are some vows that you made which have been affecting this life. There was a great discussion over at <a href="http://www.tappingforum.com/index.php?topic=419.0" title="When Tapping Doesn't Work" target="_blank" class="liexternal">the tapping forum</a> about past life vows and other deeper patterns that can affect us.</p>
<p>As always, you can use EFT to release your self from these vows. The exact wording will depend on your religious beliefs so I&#8217;ll keep the wording as general as possible. Using the following <a href="/eft-tapping-points/" title="EFT Tapping Points Guide" target="_self" class="liinternal">EFT Tapping Points Guide</a> tap as follows:</p>
<p>Karate Chop Point:<br />
&#8220;Even though I have taken a vow of poverty, I ask a Higher Power to release me from this vow as it no longer serves me&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I took a vow of poverty as a way of worshipping, I choose to embrace abundance and joy as my new devotion&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though my soul has held me to this vow of poverty, I ask permission to release it now.&#8221;</p>
<p>Head: &#8220;Releasing this vow of poverty&#8221;<br />
Eyebrows: &#8220;I choose abundance as my new way of experiencing the Divine&#8221;<br />
Side of Eyes: &#8220;Releasing this vow of poverty, that no longer serves me&#8221;<br />
Under Eyes: &#8220;I ask my soul and whom ever I made this vow to, to release me from it now&#8221;<br />
Top Lip: &#8220;Releasing this vow of poverty.&#8221;<br />
Chin Point: &#8220;Thank you for releasing me from this vow of poverty&#8221;<br />
Collar Bones: &#8220;I can do more good for myself and others with abundance&#8221;<br />
Under Arms: &#8220;Releasing this vow of poverty&#8221;<br />
Wrist Points: &#8220;Thank you for releasing me from this vow of poverty&#8221;</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Are you being a martyr to gain love and connection? Does somehow treating yourself badly give you a strange sense of feeling good. EFT offers ways to get to the underlying beliefs and clear this sabotaging behaviours.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I’ve just spent over an hour clearing the pattern of being a martyr from my energy system. This article is not about the suicide bomber martyr that we are familiar with but instead about the many ways in which we buy into being a martyr in our everyday life.</p>
<p>Here are some ways you may notice the martyr pattern:</p>
<ul>
<li>You feel good when you indulge e.g. you feel kind of happy with a hangover, or after you’ve eaten too much</li>
<li>You feel that people who have it easy aren’t as deserving</li>
<li>You get sympathy for doing it tough</li>
<li>You create difficulties so that others empathise</li>
<li>You find it difficult to tell your friends about your successes but can gather a crowd in an instant when you want to share your woes</li>
</ul>
<p>In Australia, we have a concept called the “tall poppy syndrome”. The tall poppy syndrome is where the more successful you are the more people want to cut you down. On the flipside is the national identity of the “aussie battler” who should be admired for doing it tough. So the tougher you have it the more you get acceptance, sympathy, and significance. The more successful you are the more that people will want to cut you down. Sounds like martyrdom to me.</p>
<p>Growing up, I had a Christian education which is a religion based entirely on martyrdom. &#8220;Jesus died for our sins&#8221; is the message. He sacrificed himself so that you may be saved. So the holiest person is the one that sacrifices the most, the one who is the greatest martyr. Note that I still think Christian principles have their place but skip the guilt trip for being successful, happy, and healthy.</p>
<p>If the above paragraphs get you angry and defensive, consider why? Because it challenges some of you most deeply cherished beliefs. Great, take those beliefs out and consider them consciously. Do they make sense? Did you choose those beliefs or have you just accepted them unconsciously? Rather than going with your first knee-jerk reaction, really take the time to think about them. Do some EFT on the feelings that come up and look for the gift below it.</p>
<p>The media of course have their place in rewarding martyrdom. If someone is doing it tough and wins the lottery, well they deserved it. But if a rich person makes more money, they’re just another selfish rich bastard.</p>
<p>Have a think in your life about how many ways you are rewarded for doing it tough. Have a think of how many ways in your life you get connection and sympathy for the troubles you are having. All of these reinforce the martyr pattern.</p>
<p>For those who are <a href="http://www.tap4health.com" title="EFT in Melbourne" target="_blank" class="liinternal">familiar with EFT</a>, here is some tapping phrases that will get you started in clearing the pattern. You will need to be curious and persistent to identify all the ways the pattern shows up.</p>
<p>Be sure to include that second part of the EFT Phrase, “I deeply and completely love and forgive myself” after each of these phrase since we have rarely made a conscious choice to play the martyr and becoming aware of the pattern sometimes leads to anger at ourselves and others. So be sure to clear that as well.</p>
<p>&#8220;Even though I feel more deserving the harder things get, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I get connection and sympathy for having it tough, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though you have to sacrifice to be rewarded, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I feel significant for how tough I’m doing it, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I keep creating struggle in my life to feel good about myself, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I feel good when I treat myself badly, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I feel good when others treat me badly, …&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I&#8217;m always ready to sacrifice myself so that others feel good about themselves, &#8230;&#8221;<br />
&#8220;Even though I only allow myself to feel good when I&#8217;ve sacrificed in some way, &#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>Consider also how being a martyr meets your <a href="/why-some-clients-do-not-tap-even-when-they-know-eft-will-help-them/" title="6 Human Needs Psychology" target="_blank" class="liinternal">6 Human Needs</a> and see if you can identify more empowering and fullfilling ways of meeting those needs instead.</p>
<p>The christian religions teach us that the holiest thing we can do is to die for another. I&#8217;m curious how different the world would be if the holiest thing we could do was to <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>live </strong></span>for each other instead.</p>
